Annie Say

BSc (Hons) Botany (First Class), PhD Ecology, Member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM)

Annie is an experienced environmental consultant with over 20 years experience of environmental consultancy first with Northern Environmental Consultants Ltd (NECL 1987 -1990), then with ERM (firstly leading the EIA team at ERM North 1993 – 96, and then in Edinburgh where Annie headed the planning and natural heritage team from 1999 - 2003) and now as a Director with Natural Capital (since 2003).  She is an ecologist by background and has wide experience of feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments (EIAs) of development and transport projects.

Key Skills/Specialisms

Key skills in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) - wide ranging experience of EIA for many sectors (e.g. energy; infrastructure; rural and urban developments etc.), Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), sustainability appraisals, appropriate assessment, consultations and facilitation of stakeholder workshops.

Key Capabilities

Management and direction of environmental and sustainability projects. Consultations and facilitation of workshops - trained facilitator and in counselling skills. Commitment to effective communications with all stakeholders. Good understanding of range of environmental issues relating to projects and how to mitigate these from extensive experience of projects in all sectors and from working in all stages of project delivery. Undertaking complex EIAs and good understanding of all relevant disciplines.  Frequently asked to act as a client advisor on EIA and SEA projects. Experience in negotiating with objectors and PLI experience.
