Environmental Auditor Training for Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
Attendees at the training found the practical auditing sessions particularly useful with a combination of helpful checklists and protocols that were easy to fill in, together with the hands-on experience of carrying out physical inspections of areas that were at most environmental risk. Visits were made to chemical stores, maintenance areas and the bulk storage tanks of fuel oil and diesel. A thorough audit of waste management areas was also made together with a detailed look at energy use around the site. The prospective auditors gained new insights into the environmental risks posed by activities around the main Edinburgh site and were delighted that the results of their audits would be used as inputs to future environmental improvement programmes.
