Jennifer has worked as an economic development consultant for over eleven years and in the public sector for four years. Her clients include the Scottish Government, Local Authorities, NGOs, Enterprise Companies and Private Enterprise. Her projects include the creation of new economic frameworks and strategies for regions or industry sectors; the economic appraisal of proposed infrastructure within an economy; and the evaluation and development of business development initiatives. Her projects frequently require working closely with private industry in order to collect relevant information and to ensure the optimum solution is found.
She has a particular interest in the rural economy and has completed projects in a range of industries including renewable energy, transport, tourism, agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture. She has also worked in the social enterprise sector. Jennifer understands the challenge of securing economic development at the periphery of Europe and the complexities of balancing social and environmental factors with economic success in these communities.
